A precious historical reminder of the 1939-1945 world war years, this type of night-light bulb had to replace every conventional bulb in every home, to avoid being spotted by enemy aircraft during night raids. The same obligation applied to public spaces, where all the lampposts had to be painted brown and/or fitted with a night-light.
